    • Hi OPI!

Welcome to the boards.  :)  A girlfriend was just showing off her gel nails the other day, bragging that there was not a single chip after ... 2 weeks I think she said?  Impressive.

As far as Scentsy and men, the biggest surprise for me selling Scentsy has been how many men LOVE Scentsy...  If you scroll through these warmers, https://need.scentsy.us/Buy/Search?query=full-size, you'll see there are many warmers designed with a masculine touch.  There is even an entire fragrance collection named "Scentsy Man" here ---> https://need.scentsy.us/Buy/Collection/374, although I find a lot of men prefer fruit/berry (Right, Wallace?) and/or bakery scents.

Its a great product.  The fragrances are wonderful; long-lasting and easily changed out.  (Over 80 choices, too.)  The warmers are high-quality, beautiful and safe (flame-less).

I have yet to try scentsy. I mean...I see it everywhere but I think it is more of a female product. I guess I am not into candles but my wife is. She is in to that and a new mlm...body by vi or something. I guess it is what it is. OPI Axxium Colors

    • Rick's objective is to provide me with reading material. His rants are legendary lol. Purely for my amusement, and he is probably a bit more blunt than I am but speaks the truth most of the time. His colorful posts have thankfully been known to take some of the attention off mine, since I am sometimes known to rant a bit myself lol.

    • Thanks, Rick!

I have been with Scentsy since Mar. of 2010, so just about a year and a half.  My up-line is fantastic, especially my direct sponsor who is my SIL.  :)  We live in different states so its been wonderful to have a reason to connect more often (both of us are busy working moms of young children).  Scentsy is a LOT social for me, forcing me to get out and meet new people, like you --- Hi!  (My husband and I started a business and a family at the same time so the last 10 years have been me at an office desk or home at a change table.  haha  Not too much socializing... but now the kids are bigger and need me much less, as does our business...  so I wanted my own "thing".)  I have some great new, dear friends (and re-newed "old" friendships, too) thanks to Scentsy.

      >>> CORNY ALERT!  <<<

      Sorry...  but true.  lol

so what's your objective 'round here, ceptin' BS Alerts?  ;)

    • Hi Carleen, and welcome to the boards. If you need anything at all please do NOT hesitate to ask. Lots of helpful people with lots of helpful info. How long have you been a Scentsy rep?

    • July 21, 2011 7:01 AM PDT
    • ineedscents at gmail.com please.

and on the line of samples...

For folks here in town, I like to offer a try-before-you buy and let them borrow a warmer for a week to go along with their sample.  :)

    • July 21, 2011 12:34 AM PDT
    • You got a deal :D

Where should I send my contact info? Also, I sincerely appreciate it, I have really come to place in which I believe that free samples are the number one way to get people to get involved in something new. One of the perks I like about being a guy is the fact that even if it does clash with my shampoo, I won't know the difference lol.

    • July 20, 2011 10:21 AM PDT
    • PS:

WallaceL, I have a lil sample sitting here with your name on it...  'just awaitin' for an envie with your address on it.  :)

    • July 20, 2011 4:19 AM PDT
    • Why thank you, WallaceL. :)

I have to agree with you about Scentsy.  I've always loved the idea of helping others grow their businesses in order to be successful ('was with a couple of different direct selling companies 'bout 20 years ago, briefly)... Scentsy's core values are simplicity, authenticity, and generosity and it shows.  (Personally, they had me at SIMPLICITY.  lol)  I have an ever-growing circle of Scentsy "sisters" that I adore, many not on my "team", but all so friendly and helpful.  :)

You know my biggest, most pleasant surprise with Scentsy is how very much men like it.  So yes, you macho, weight-liftin' man, I do have a fragrance that I think you will LOVE; one of our top sellers, Black Raspberry Vanilla.  (I just hope it doesn't clash with your shampoo.  haha)

    • No worries on showing up to the party late :)

I always enjoy a Scentsy post, I suppose because Scentsy is one of those companies that operates in such a way as to give the perfect example of what an MLM company should be. That isn't to say that its perfect, but its what many of us wish most people would think when they imagine an MLM company, or network marketing in general. Anyway, I see you are in fact a Scentsy rep, who just happens to be offering her services, this is good. I'm a fan of sweet scents (err not that I'm not the most masculine machine of a man that has ever walked the earth), but I kind of like it when a room smells a little like candy. Even my shampoo makes my hair smell fruity (no comments Rick). Something along the lines of a Vanilla/Strawberry combo would be an awesome scent for me to use in a room, perhaps my little weightlifting area downstairs. Do you have anything like that available? If so, perhaps we can make an arrangement. :D

    • Even more clever...

Scentsy runs these promos during our slow seasons.  BRILLIANT!

    • so I'm MONTHS behind in this reply, but just found this site during a google search...

      Hi all!  ((wave))

One way to find a legit, current Scentsy rep is to go to the Scentsy corp site and input your address, here ---> http://scentsy.net/party-consultant.aspx

You should see several to choose from (hint: When you go to their website, click on the "Home" tab and then click on "Read my story" to learn more about the individual.)  This is a feature I especially LOVE!  I despise going to websites that have me put in my info and then state that "they" will have someone get ahold of me (maybe, eventually)...

There are perks to having a local rep, some keep inventory for last-minute gifts (or last-minute cravings.  lol)  Plus you may be able to save on shipping costs...

Ooooorrrrrr, you could just order from me!  *giggle*

https://need.scentsy.us/Bio <--- My story; feel free to "snoop".  ;)

Now I'd love some tips to getting around this site.

      Thanks!

      Carleen

      [quote user="Rickdowns77"]

Linda, you freakin rock! These are perfect, and don't worry about me burning out the oil burner I have, its actually really thick, its an old bronze incense burner my mom gave me but the bottom is so big I put oils in it like eucalyptus. These flavors kick ass, and I'm going to order a Cherry Lime aid and a Blueberry, I didn't even think of Blueberry until I saw it on your list. Thanks a million, the prices aren't bad either......You're right about the products being available here, there, and everywhere. At this point my only issue is that I can't decide which online rep of the 30 dozen I found will mail it to me the fastest, or does Scentsy ship the stuff out? *** I need to go look and se if that's the case, then it will be a question of who processes the fastest. I might even pay more and order from a larger site, I mean how can you even tell fo sho if a rep is still even in business and didn't just leave the site up and dormant, or if they only check it like once every 3 days; screw that. Thank L!

    • I LOVE SCENTSY!  And my consultant loves me... :)

Sometimes the scent can be strong, but it really depends on 2 things:

      1.  How big the room is

      2.  How much you use

If you have a small room and put the whole bar in a large warmer it's too much. I personally start out with one little square and work my way up for bathrooms and smaller spaces.  Plus, I use the plugin for bathrooms because they are much smaller.

If you really like a scent, you can even get a brick - which is 1 lb of your favorite scent.

Hope this helps some!  I know I'm late in responding :)

    • I have to tell you that just about everyone I've met that has anything to do with Scentsy has turned out to be really kind, direct and to the point. Scentsy gets a bit of favoritism around here I've noticed, and it honestly deserves it because the company has a great reputation which keeps getting better simply because its receiving more and more exposure. My wife bought a Scentsy warmer and even though we both prefer real candles, we always keep it handy on the porch which happens to have more wind curtains than most large houses. Its attractive, simply, and safe, plus you get God knows how many scents to choose from when you order. I remember back when the company launched and first started offering direct sales opportunities, and I knew back then that it would grow and it has. This is a tough business because it has a tough reputation to deal with, and consequently is forced to deal with a little bit of discrimination. I'm so confident about Scentsy's growth that I predict it to be the next Christmas Tree Shop within 10 years or so. The products will likely expand to lamps, sconces, and all other manner of permanent fixtures that will enable you to add scents to. To top it all off, the company has a tremendous reputation for being very good to its employees and sales reps, and even multiple charities. Looking at company growth, you almost have to wonder where its priorities are, company expansion or giving to charities.

    • Great advice, Judy!

A knowledgeable, helpful, inspiring, *available* sponsor can make all the difference to a consultant's business; choose wisely if you are (or think you may ever be) serious about your direct selling business.

Tip:  Interview several people.  Make a list of what you are looking for, such as:

      1. Returns your calls/texts/emails promptly.
      2. Answers your questions thoroughly; knows their "stuff"
      3. Makes you feel good; inspired.
      4. Is local?  (Not necessary in this digital world, but may be important to you.  It is really helpful to have at least a few team members local, for swapping product, etc...)

Some things our team does that you might also ask about:

      • (Optional) Monthly get-together (sometimes via webcam for those out-of-town)
      • Monthly team newsletter
      • FB group page

      Hope that helps!

    • Hi, sorry that I haven't been on the forum for a few days.  As per your question, I actually think that it's just a rumor.  I have been a consultant for 2 years now and haven't heard anything about that.  There are recipes that tell you which scents that you could melt together for a custom scent.  If you have any questions, feel free to post them.

    • Hi H.Harris,

I am a Superstar Director with Scentsy. I have been with the company for 3 1/2 years. It has been a life changing journey for me. I wanted to let you know one very important part of joining, that is choosing a great sponsor. Everyone is sponsored into the company and being with someone who is working the business is important. It will give you valuable insight. Also joining in August will give you both the spring/summer catalogs & scent testers as well as the new fall/winter ones.

Please contact me if you have questions. I do this full-time and would love to answer any questions you have about the business.

      Best of luck,

      J Winger

    • Hi there, I don't live in your area unfortunately but you might consider selling online also, in which case if you send me your info I would be more than happy to place an order with you. :) Just let me know when you get started and you can email me at Tonyawjl@yahoo.com. We can exchange info etc. I think Scentsy might even give you your own web site when you sign up but I don't know for sure. I too hope that we continue to hear from you, especially because I have been creeping around these boards ever sense I tried an awful mlm nutrition shake and have become pretty interested in starting something of my own!  Good luck to you Harris, hope you make a million dollars for sure!

    • Good luck H, if you don't mind, would you be willing to keep us informed about your experiences getting involved? Good or bad, that's the kind of priceless info we love to talk about here. There are also enough experienced members to help you along the way with specific problems you may come across.

    • I was going to chime in to yall about Scentsy, but Ivette pretty much said it as well as it can be said. Scentsy seems real solid and were I to start over I think I would have definitely considered them as a starting point without a doubt.

    • July 18, 2011 1:02 PM PDT
    • Hi h.harris!

I know I'm a little late to the party, but just wanted to offer my two cents.

Everything I have heard from consultants and experienced as a customer is that the company is great!

They have a solid and comparable compensation plan, as well as good customer specials and hostess benefits.  The company provides good information to representatives and stands behind their product.

The only "challenge" I would bring up is this:

While it's not at all "required" to have an inventory, all the "successful" reps I have seen have an inventory.  They carry their totes filled with scents and warmers to parties and bazaars because it's easier for them to sell if people can see it and take it with them.  For me, this would personally be a challenge because of space as well as tying up cash.  Not to mention the fact that getting the right inventory mix is challenging.  It's hard to say what scents appeal to which people.

Again, no where does it say that you have to carry an inventory and in fact it's not required, but it's kind of like selling makeup.  Those consultants who have an inventory and can service their customers quickly have better sales and repeat customers.  I just wanted to put this out there as consideration in your decision.  Not as to whether you would join the company or not - because I think they are great.  But rather whether you would want to invest in inventory.

      Just my two cents....

    • July 16, 2011 9:03 AM PDT
    • Hey that's actually a cool idea, so long as it wouldn't require too many manufacturing changes. I'm not sure how viable it would be to have to set up a machine or whatever they use that can make random flavors. Anywho, I did a Google search and I can't find a thing. I tried every possible combination, and went back pretty far and its as if you completely imagined it lolz. It could have even just been a post from some other forum by some twilight zone escapee, you never know. Not that I don't believe you, just agreeing with you that it seems like the entire internet is void of any reference to it whatsoever.

    • July 15, 2011 4:53 AM PDT
    • Hey there Tara, having been posting here for awhile, I've met a few reps for many companies, but you would be the first Scentsy rep, its akin to getting a celebrity's autograph lol. Anyway, I actually read a rumor, and of course now that I'm trying to find it, I can't find it anywhere on the internet, as if I dreamed it. I recall a small article that suggested Scentsy would be offering the ability to order custom scents. Not as in singular squares of multiple scents all in one package, but of actual mixed wax/scent containing a choice of 3 of a customer's favorite scent. Since I can't seem to find this article anywhere, do you think this was just a rumor, or perhaps Scentsy has since scrapped the idea?
