ViSalus™ was founded, according to their mission statement, to "combine passion for people with the principles of health and entrepreneurship. ViSalus™ is a community dedicated to making a positive impact on the life, health and prosperity of everyone we can reach. We do this by empowering and educating our Customers and Distributors to help bring our cutting edge health and wellness innovations to the world." The mission is embedded in the name—Vi means "life" in Latin and Salus means "health".

ViSalus was founded by Blake Mallen and Nick Sarricola, along with co-founder Ryan Blair. Mallen is the Chief Marketing Officer. His bio states he has nearly a decade in Network Marketing experience and has a dual degree from UCLA in Psychology and Political Sciences with an emphasis on Public Law. He champions ViSalus' incentive programs. According to the website, Nick Sarricola's strong background in sales and marketing techniques led him to create the ViSalus Academy, the company's mentoring and training program.  Blake Mallen joined on in 2005 as CEO after forming six entrepreneurial companies, the first when he was 19 years old. The company has brought on other executive members with marketing experience in Mary Kay Cosmetics, Avon and HerbalLite. 

ViSalus markets several health and weight loss product lines including the ViSalus Sciences© Vi-Shape and Vi-pak, and the Body byVi, a 90 day program of weigh management and health through prepackaged meals as little as $2.00 each and supplements. Vi-net is an interactive community of ViSalus Science© product users and members.

Entrepreneurial opportunities as a distributor of their products exist within this company.
