    • I was cruising around the internet yesterday just seeing what is new and I had a friend send this to me.

      MySocialURL.

      I didn't think about it much because I get tired of being hit up by programs and the latest "hot" thing.  But I gave it a closer look because I am a advocate of using social media to build relationships and to brand myself as a networker and team leader.

      I use Twitter and vido marketing.  I think its just as important as coming to Repspace and meeting new people.  Networking is networking and you never know who you may meet.

      What MySocialURL does is to put your social sites like MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube, Twitter and any main site you choose on in one place and with one URL.

      You can choose your company owned site as your main site or if you have a company provided lead capture page, you can use that as well.

      Once you have your social media site usernames entered (which you may have already done when creating your account), then you can use your MySocialURL home page in place of your normal URL for a business you are promoting.

      It is kind of like multi-tasking. With the same amount of effort, you are promoting your business as usual, but you're also making new contacts, and as a byproduct -- many of your visitors may also choose to setup an account on MySocialURL.com with YOU as their referrer.

    • If your a seasoned online marketer, either an affiliate marketer, online network marketer or a hybred, you know that having your own list of people to market to is essential. 

      If you're brand new to online marketing or network marketing, every "guru" is going to  tell you that you that you must build a list.  That is where leads, prospects and sales come from.  So how do you build your list?

      Well I've made other posts about some ways to build a list.  Check out my profile to find some of those.  For now we can make it pretty simple.  You can either build your list one person at a time.  This can take awhile.  In fact, it does take awhile.

      One way to increase your list in a shorter time is to participate in joint venture give away events that happen throughout the year.  The next major joint venture giveaway event for this year is going to be the Easter 2009 JV Giveaway event.

      This is how a giveaway event works and how you can participate.

      1.  Find a digital product on your computer that you own  or have the right to give away (everyone has at
      least one…just check the rights listed on your products).   This is usually a good quality e-book or software package.  The better the quality of the product that you contribute to the event will determine how many people you add to your list.

      3.  Fill out the simple form you’ll find there and upload your product.

      On Easter day these few clicks will translate into a list building explosion.  But you’ve only got a small window of opportunity to get in.

      They will be closing down for new contributions any day now.   So stop everything and take care of this before you forget.

      For the seasoned online marketers, this event is expected to be bigger than last years.  If you've never been a part of a giveaway event.  This is one of the best every year and its going to be a great way to learn about this list building technique.

    • Thanks for the feedback Josh.  Your correct that the conversion is still in question when it comes to Twitter.  I think it is still pretty early for Twitter and while I can produce several visits to my Squidoo lenses and other links I send out to my followers, the key for me is to try to provide links and information of value.  One thing I would tell networkers when it comes to using Twitter is that tweeting product links or links to their company website may not give them much of a result.  Usually my links are to news information or are informational in nature. 

      So for me, with attraction marketing being my goal, Im not looking for a conversion with what I tweet.  I just do it to share information or to tell people about an updated or new Squidoo lens I write or an update on my blog.  Many of the people that follow me on twitter are also Squidoo users and we enjoy commenting on each others lenses and network within Squidoo as well.

      I guess it just depends on how a networker chooses to use Twitter.  It can do well if a networker uses it to share interesting information or it can be a wasteland if they just use it to pitch everyone.

      Thanks for sharing on the list builder sites. I will check those out for sure. I had heard of Viral URL, et al, but the other ones are new to me. LinkReferral sounds like a great way to meet other webmasters.

      I must disagree with you on the effectiveness of twitter. I have used tr.im in the same way you did and see clicks here and there, but no one ever takes action. I even had a link to a 5 question survey about TWITTER. No one bothered to even click a couple of buttons and answer some questions about a hot twitter issue.

      Curiosity clicks are cool, but the amount of time you have to spend on Twitter to get anyone to listen to you, doesn't quite justify the outcome. Maybe I'm just being a crotchety old man.....but hey, at least I tried it first.  :)

    • Hi Everyone...Just wanted to share some information with you.  Maybe save you a little time in the process.

      I've been trying all sorts of traffic building resources that I imagine clog up your inbox like it does mine.  I've tried a bunch of them.  Today I looked at what was producing traffic and what was not.  I create a Trim url for just about everything I do so I can track my link activity for my sites, affiliate programs, squidoo pages...everything.  I wanted one place to look at what was getting traffic and what was not.  So I use Tr.im  to do this.  It's free, check it out.  Also a great way to cloak your links.

      So there are list builders and I use the standard ListJoe as well as viral URL.  Those are safe bets as far as list builders go.  I use them and promote them on my main site at www.LeftLaneMarketing.info. 

      Then I started using other services...a lot of them.  Here is what was actually creating traffic for me.  All of these require that you view other member ad unless you are on a paid upgrade membership.  You will need to determine what works best for you.  What do you have more of...time or money.  If you have the money to get the upgrades and buy more traffic, of course that is best.  However, if you do not have the money to spend on the upgrade, you will need to block some time to view other member ads. 

      • MillionLeadsForFree - This one kinda surprised me.  You need to log in and view 10 other posted ads.  Then you are given 5000 credits to post your ad.  Once a day.  Thats it.  Comes with a nice and simple html editor to create your ad.  Its simple and I was surprised to see the traffic from this site.  Copywriting a good headline is key.
      • LinkReferral - This one is a bit more involved.  You build credits by not only viewing other member sites but you have a list of tasks to maximize the value of your membership.  You view 30 websites, give reviews of 5, select a favorite and make a post on the forum.  Each part builds ad credits.  The good part is that you see a lot of interesting sites and very few are MLM company sites or basic splash pages.  There is even a social element as you send site evaluations back and forth and meet other site owners.  Its sorta cool to help each other out.  You can also pick catagories of interest like travel, pets, sports...all sorts of stuff. 
      • Traffic Bunnies - Huge surprise at the speed you get traffic and the amount.  They make it fun to use...sort of a game.  They also give you additional tools like the ability to create your own fun splash page for whatever site your promoting.  This is one of mine HERE.  You can have up to 5 sites and it creates a link that allows you to promote it anywhere.  Post it on Twitter if you want....

      The key to all of these is that you make it a part of your daily schedule and you commit to doing it.  Block out some time and just sit down and do it.  Be consistant and you will see results.

      That reminds me...Twitter.  If you're not using Twitter and building you community there you're missing a huge..massive...explosive resource.  Its going to be much harder to build the longer you wait.  Why do I say that..those of us that have been there are everywhere and new people will get caught somewhere in our network of followers.  One cool thing about tr.im is when I do create a cloaked link there, its hooked up to my twitter so any time I create a new link to an affiliate product or create a new link to anything, I just hit tweet this link and it gets sent to everyone following me.  I can also track how many views I get.  Its not uncommon to have 10 or more views witin 5 minutes of creating a new link.  Its about working smarter my friends.

      One last thing.  If your in MLM...please don't fall into the trap of using your company owned website to promote you and your business.  Be creative and be an individual...not just another distributor.  If nothing else, go to Squidoo and create a page about your business and promote that.  You can always put a link to your company website on your Squidoo page.  Thats always the last thing I do.  Here's an example of my last Squidoo Page I created.

    • Ask any Guru of online lead generation or attraction marketing and you can pretty much bet that they will tell you the importance of building your own list.  Building and owning your own list of opt-in leads becomes gold to anyone that know what to do with it.

      Have you heard "The Money is in the List"?  Of course you have.   Well it's true, in a way.  The money is in your ability to convert the people on your list into buyers but you have to start somewhere.

      But what do you do with people once they're on your list?  They offered their contact information and opted into your list because they expected something from you.  Usually that is information.  They believed that you had something to share with them that was of interest.  So you better darn well have that or they will opt-out just as fast as opted in.

      So that brings up two of the greatest challenges for the majority of the people that know they need to be building a list  or market with article but don't know where to start, what to offer and how to create reader interest and keep their list growing and happy.

      1. Having a compelling reason for someone to want to opt-in to your list.
      2. Having a constant flow of content and information to publish new articles and keep your list happy and well fed.

      Many times item number one can be achieved using a free report, a free e-book or some other source as an immediate give away or low cost product just to get people onto your list.  Maybe you can sell a low cost product in the front end for immediate profit or you can offer something as a "Thank You" for subscribing.

      Item two is done by delivering an e-course over the span of a few days or a weekly articles about network marketing with some tips and resources with links to an affiliate product you use for your funded proposal.

      You really have a lot of options...

      But where does a networker find these things?  Writing your own informative report to offer up front and then writing a constant flow of informative articles may take more time than you have.  After all, you still have a network marketing business to tend to.  Maybe your just not a writer and creating all of this is simply not going to happen.

    • I agree 110%.  The great thing about article marketing is it's content rich information, provided it is a well written article, that will may be picked up by several site owners.  Once your well crafted article is out there, who knows how far it may spread.  In a term, it can become viral driving traffic to your site that have already decided that you are an authority or knowlegeable person.  This creates a great deal of credability for you and somewhat prequalified visitors to your webspace.

      I encourage all my site visitors to consider this low-budget but effective maketing method.

    • When I started my home based travel business, I really worried about how I would be able to compete with other Network Marketers who were established and had the cash flow to advertise for business utilizing Pay Per Click and Search Engine Marketing.
